About

Anglerfish Interiors is a quaint art shop nestled in the heart of the Ironbridge world heritage site, specializing in sculpture, wall art and other unique finds.

The brainchild of artist Nik Burns and curator Corrine Keady, the shop showcases a wide array of  Nik’s creations alongside the work of other local artisans.

Expect to find deep sea creatures pieced together from old metal ornaments, light-fittings crafted from driftwood, odd intricacies made from what others would have thought was useless materials – as well as ceramics, prints, t-shirts, small gifts and more in a wide range of styles and designs from some of the Midlands finest creators.

The Artists

Nik Burns

Inspired by alien-like marine life, Nik Burns creates playful sculptures and lamps full of character and often with a humorous side – twisting mostly driftwood, discarded metal and old furnishings into his instantly recognisable deep sea creatures.

After starting a career as a photographer, he re-trained and completed an Applied Arts Degree at Hereford College of Arts in 2013, and it was here that he discovered his passion for working with the hard materials of wood and metal. By experimenting, and now mastering, the combination of the two very different mediums, he has crafted a defined style that allows him to breathe life into the most unexpected inanimate objects!

Mandy Ferriday

Through the use of striking colour, Mandy Ferriday harnesses acrylics, alcohol inks and watercolours to explore the beauty of the natural world. Her work often plays with textures and patterns in an alluring way, which helps to produce mixed media pieces that provide warmth and provoke happiness.

In 2004 she opened an aptly named shop called ‘Gifts From The Heart’ following a year of selling her creations at craft fayres, and this expanded to her providing art workshops and led her on a collaborative journey of sharing techniques and ideas. It’s easy to see in her art that each stroke of her brush contains her love and that of many others.

Duncan White

During a trip to Jackfield Museum a young Duncan White discovered that his Great Great Grandmother was a painter there in the 1840’s, and it was this revelation that sent him down the path of the arts. After joining art college, ceramics quickly became his medium of choice and he has been firing out little delights from his oven ever since.

His unique, often raw-looking style takes up many guises – ranging from ‘Mad Birdies’, teapots and tiles, and they always feature intriguing little details or comedic nods within their intricacies. Each piece is affectionately created and offers up another part of the jigsaw that is the one-off personality of Duncan White – and if you have overlooked the artist in the art, then we suggest that you look a bit closer…

LR Silver

As a child Lori Ridgway realised a solution to never finding any jewellery that she liked – just make her own. Ever since she has been creating pieces that embrace nature and fulfil her curiosities, through strands of a journey that saw her move from working with precious metals to mainly silver-clay. This peculiar material is a clay containing fine silver dust that can be moulded and sculpted, when fired in a kiln it turns into 99.9% pure silver. These pieces that are then fully hallmarked at the assay office. It was during this change in 2014 when she first conceived LR Silver Jewellery, before passing her 3 stage diploma process and then teaching classes alongside crafting her brand.

After adding traditional goldsmithing techniques to her line of skills, she has become a beautifully deft hand at making bespoke creations, yet her true joy comes from producing and repairing pieces that hold sentimental value to the owner. So despite working with gold, silver and precious stones; the real value of her art is within the memories that she forges.
